Does any personal data go on the network?

No. Only the SHA-256 fingerprint, a reference ID with no personal link, the event type, the issuer identifier and the timestamp. The certificate cannot be reconstructed from the fingerprint — which is what makes the model GDPR-compatible.

What happens to our credentials if ProofLayer disappears?

Accepted Answer

They keep verifying. The anchor is public, the formats are standard and the source code is open and self-hostable. Cancel the support contract and you lose the support, not your credentials.

Do we have to replace our campus management system?

Accepted Answer

No. ProofLayer sits beneath your existing systems as a verification layer. Issuance and revocation are triggered over the REST API from the systems you already run — no break in the process, no duplicate data entry.

Do we need blockchain expertise in-house?

Accepted Answer

No. Administrators see one click; developers see a documented REST API. Ledger accounts, fees and node topology sit behind the interface — and behind a support contract, if you want one.

What does it cost per graduating cohort?

Accepted Answer

The network charges about USD 0.0001 per event, paid to the network rather than to us — under one euro a year for 5,000 graduates. There is no licence fee, no per-seat price and no charge for verifications.

Is this compatible with the EUDI wallet and EBSI?

Accepted Answer

Issuance, verification, trust registry, revocation and anchoring are built and in use on open standards (OID4VCI, OID4VP, SD-JWT VC, W3C VC, Status List, DIDs). The connection to the EUDI wallet and to European Digital Credentials for Learning is in progress.
